Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories are of discovering a piano hidden in the attic of her home, then becoming enthralled by its sounds. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged her to learn music not to get work or for a passion, but as an opportunity to develop. In order to do so she wrote her first songs that were her own creations. Alongside Bjork as well, she mentions Leonard Cohen as an influence. Her mother was supportive of her performing her music in front of the public, but not to achieve fame, but rather to help others realize how important they are and how they can make a difference for the world. The piano was her first instrument at the age of six. She began making music at the age of nine. They didn't even know until the age of 14. Aurora never dreamed of being famous. The only thing she loves is writing songs. Music to her is the only method of feeling anything.
